THE CAMPUS

The Campus has been recently modernised and provides great learning facilities including a library, computer rooms and modern standards for learning, such as WiFi and comfortable classrooms. The centre is available for universities and college students to utilise for international programmes.
LOCATION
Lucca is famous for its intact city walls dating back to between the 15th and 17th centuries; a perimeter of 4.5 km that encloses the centre of the historic city , Lucca. The historic centre has remained intact and in its original form; one can see the great number of architectural styles present; the myriad medieval churches, towers and bell-towers, and monumentally imposing Renaissance palazzos. Lucca has been dubbed the “City of 100 Churches” due to the great number of churches within the historic centre. The city also boasts other attractive areas; the most famous being the Piazza dell’Anfiteatro located on the site of the ruins of the ancient Roman amphitheatre; Via Fillungo, narrow and medieval, is the main street running through the heart of the historic centre and here you will find the most prestigious shops.
Due to the city’ s immense historical and architectural wealth, Lucca’ s historic centre, which also includes the folkloric and traditional theatre of Teatro del Giglio, has been put forward as a potential UNESCO’s World Heritage site.
NOT ONL Y LUCCA
Lucca and its surrounding areas
The Province of Lucca is as varied as it gets: rivers, lakes, hillsides, mountains and let’ s not forget the sea. This corner of Tuscany affords the visitor untouched landscapes and itineraries well worth visiting.
From the famous beaches in Versilia, the splendid Sanctuary of the Cetacei where it is possible to go scuba-diving and observe whales and dolphins to Massaciuccoli Lake where Giacomo Puccini composed his masterpieces; from the tops of the Apuan Alps in the National Park of the Apuan Alps down to the National Park of San Rossore in Migliarino; from the woods in the Garfagnana area to the gentle hills that span Camaiore and Massarosa. An area that is studded with delightful villages and art towns, with Lucca as its jewel in the crown. Two thousand years of history are on hand daily whilst walking through the streets and squares of the city. Just as many treasures are housed in the numerous collections in Lucca and its territory. There are national museums with important collections, arts and crafts from the past, whilst at local level, the museums throw up unexpected treasure troves, exhibitions, Music Festival, and much more1.

PROGRAM
The tourist destinations are no longer understood and appreciated as places, but as the sum of emotions and feelings. More than what they see or visit, these new and demanding tourists are looking for experiences. The experiential tourism is so defined as the type of tourism which takes place in moments of everyday life of the destination you visit, participating actively and personally in the common activities that take place there, discovering traditions and customs and enjoying an authentic, unique and personal experience. Identifying the most important “experiential points” that tourists encounter during their visit is the method to design a tourist experience. The two-weeks Study programme starts from the discovering of the Italian tourism system and its distinctive features (art, food and fashion) and gives the knowledge and tools for planning and designing a personal Italian Tourist Experience. For making this, the students will participate in “Experiential Visits”, that will be defined according to period of study in Italy, in order to guarantee the most exciting real experiences.
